The Sea Ranch

Gualala

Irish Beach

    Irish Beach is a charming coastal community which is just a few miles North of Mancehster. The community has about 250 home sites. Over the past 30 years about 60% of the sites have had custom homes built but there are still some lots available. The community has private beach access to a 6 mile long sandy beach.

Point Arena

    Point Arena was a bustling lumber and whaling port. Punta Arena, which means "sand port" in Spanish was one of the most active ports on the Mendocino Coast. 1879 records show that 2,300 tons of merchandise were shipped from the wharf. The town looks much the way it did in the early 1900's. Scenic farmland surrounds the city today, a large dairy is just to the North and cows and sheep are seen grazing as one travels along Highway One.

Rhododendrons on the Coast

Each Spring the redwood forests on the coast come alive with color as the Rhododendrons come into bloom.  There are wild ones throughout the forest and since it's such a wonderful habitat for the blooms, many locals have their gardens filled with the plants.  Always a special time of year up here.  Just north of Salt Point State Park is the Rhododendron State Park, stop by when you get to the coast.
